Pina Colada – No Sugar Added Recipe

Pina Colada - Suga Free Recipe - Diabetic-Friendly

The Piña Colada is the national drink of Puerto Rico and National Piña Colada Day is celebrated on July 10th. It’s a sweet, tropical drink often made using pineapple, pineapple juice, coconut milk or cream, rum, and sometimes added sugars.

This Pina Colada recipe has no added sugar and uses fresh pinapple, which lowers the total carbohydrate by about 10 grams per serving when compared to a typical Pina Colada. If you were to make this without alcohol, there would be about 100 fewer calories per serving (carbs are the same because white rum has no carbs). Some people like to attach a Maraschino cherry to the pineapple slice with a toothpick. Keep in mind that a single Maraschino cherry (from the store, sold in jars), would add about 2 grams of carbohydrate.
